Many Portuguese companies have been and continue to be successful in their internationalisation.
Today we're going to show you some of them.
Take a look:
Impetus
The Impetus factory produces more than 12 million pieces of men's underwear a year, mainly boxers but also t-shirts, pyjamas and swimming trunks.
Impetus is the best-known brand, but the company also has I AM, Eden Park and Protech Dry.
Together, these brands account for around 60 per cent of the company's turnover, which is around 65 million euros. The rest is subcontracted to a few prestigious brands. 90% of the company's production is destined for export!
The company is located in Barqueiros, Barcelos and employs 800 people.
The men's underwear company is present in more than 40 countries, either with its own subsidiaries or through contracts with importers and distributors.
Spain and France continue to be the main markets. "There we are leaders in the independent multi-brand market and we are one of the brands that sells the most in the El Corte Inglés and La Fayette galleries," emphasises Manuel Torres, Impetus' sales director.

KYAIA
KYAIA is a footwear company that owns the Fly London brand. It is based in Guimarães, has 600 employees and a turnover of more than 60 million euros.
Its brand, Fly London, was created years after KYAIA was founded, during a visit to a trade fair in Dusseldorf, Germany, when Fortunato Frederico, the company's founder, came across an empty stand with an image of a fly and the name Fly London underneath.
He found the name quite interesting and was intrigued by the fact that the stand was empty. He learnt that it was a project by two Englishmen, but they got angry on the way to the fair. He went looking for them to buy the project from them and succeeded!
He currently exports to more than 40 countries and has his own shops in Portugal and the UK. The remaining points of sale are partnerships with resellers.
His latest project is called "Overcube". An e-commerce platform where more than 30 national and international brands are sold.

Sovena
A company that owns the largest single olive grove in the world, in the Alentejo, from where most of the raw material, olive oil, is produced for the 70 markets in which it operates.
The company sells over 170,000 tonnes of olive oil a year. It owns, among others, the Oliveira da Serra brands in Portugal and Andorinha in Brazil and is already number two in the world in this sector.
It currently has a physical presence in more than 7 countries and operates in 4 segments:
