The lack of internal communication is one of the main challenges for companies!

Lack of internal organisation, absence of structure, hierarchical working methodologies or even lack of awareness of the importance of all communication processes are some of the obstacles in a corporate environment.

Internal communication must be strategically studied and worked on in order to increase productivity and improve the working climate in organisations, so as to achieve the company's proposed objectives.

Why is internal communication so important?

The answer is simple: because communication is a process inherent to life in society and a vital factor for success in the corporate world.

And because of its great importance, national and international scholars have developed countless studies, articles and books on the relevance of communication processes within companies. This means that there is great demand from companies to develop this issue.

What are the benefits of internal communication?

It's through internal communication that it's possible to motivate employees, improve the organisational climate, delegate tasks between departments and maintain a healthy, organic flow.

For this reason, large companies have adopted institutional marketing strategies aimed, among other things, at improving the image of the business among its own employees. The main aim of implementing these strategies is to increase productivity and consequently reduce staff turnover.

Main problems caused by a lack of communication

Companies that don't take care of their communication processes end up not giving feedback on employee performance - whether positive or negative. It's important to emphasise that praise generates a sense of recognition and appreciation in employees, which will increase motivation and confidence, and thus produce more and better. Criticism, on the other hand, can have a very important constructive function if it is well thought out.

A lack of internal communication, especially with regard to feedback, leads to a loss of productivity. Employees will feel demotivated, unhappy and invisible, which will lead to a drop in productivity.

It is already known that communication practices have the function of motivating professionals, transmitting goals and communicating the benefits that everyone has if the company is doing well as a whole.

The spread of fake news, misinformation, discrepancies between the activities carried out and the company's plans, among other obstacles, are caused by the absence of good internal communication.

The company's mission, vision and positioning should be the link between all departments. All employees and all departments must have the same focus and move in the same direction. Without internal communication, it will be practically impossible to respect this important link.

The lack of internal communication in companies can contribute to an increase in unnecessary expenses.

Lost processes, information that gets lost between sectors, lack of integration between processes, absence of internal flows of automated messages and decentralised information, all of which will lead to rework, delays in deadlines, loss of clients and other consequences that will affect the company's coffers.

We can conclude that a lack of internal communication shows that the company is completely unaware of its own employees. To communicate with any audience, you need to know them. You need to know their tasks, their characteristics and their desires so that everything can be conveyed in an assertive manner.
